Police are searching for a driver who has gone on the run after ploughing their car through an out-of-control party in east Auckland.
Residents watched in horror as the blue Mazda Familia rammed into a large crowd of drunken partygoers as they brawled in Panmure's Tripoli Rd early Saturday morning.
"A car came through, and they attacked the car, so I think he came back around and went 'pow' through them," a neighbour, who watched the carnage unfold, said.
She and her partner yelled from their upstairs window when they realised someone was trapped under the vehicle.
"They didn't realise there was someone underneath the car for ages," she said.
"It's just terrible. He was under there for quite a while, and they were still fighting around him."
Emergency services were called about 1.30am.
Two people were rushed to Auckland City Hospital - one victim remained in hospital on Saturday afternoon in a serious but stable condition, while the other was due to be discharged later in the day.
Pictures of the vehicle provided by police showed both the front and rear windscreen were smashed, with multiple signs of impact across the car.
The neighbour said the party kicked off on Friday morning, and she later saw someone being chased down the street with a baseball bat.
She said partygoers didn't appear to care someone had been injured.
"No-one got arrested or anything, and they shut their gate so police couldn't even get in," she said.
"They just kept partying for the rest of the night, until this morning."
The party address is part of a block of flats managed by Housing New Zealand on the corner of Tripoli Rd and Hobson Drive.
The woman, who lives in the same building, said the area had "always been a bit rough", but she had never experienced anything like that.
She asked not to be identified.
Police said a scene examination was due to take place later on Saturday.
The road was closed while police investigated.
