The Māori Party is out: Labour wins all Māori electorates

The Māori Party has been booted from Parliament by the strength of Labour candidates in the Māori electorates.

Labour had a stranglehold on the Māori electorates with at least 98 per cent of the votes counted in each seat.

Just before midnight on Saturday, Labour candidates were leading, or had won, all seven of the Māori electorates in the country.

Nanaia Mahuta held a massive lead in Hauraki-Waikato over Stanley Papa - 12,003 to 4605.
