Ever wondered why McDonald's chicken nuggets are shaped the way they are?

You may not have realised it, but McDonald's have revealed there are in fact four chicken McNugget shapes.

This handy piece of trivia was collated when McDonald's Canada website decided to hold a Q&A session where Stew from Canada asked, "Why do your Chicken McNuggets only come in four shapes?"

According to Cosmopolitan, a spokesman for the company said "The four shapes we make Chicken McNuggets in was the perfect equilibrium of dipability and fun. Three would've been too few. Five would've been, like, wacky. For now, our McNugget shapes are: the "ball," the "boot," the "bow-tie" and the "bell." We also make them similar in size to ensure consistent cooking times for food safety. Thanks for your question, Stew."

A video released by McDonald's Canada shows the entire process from the chickens being filleted to being packed into boxes ready to be distributed.
