BENIN—Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Dr Maikanti Baru, has said adherence to Health, Safety and Environment rules by staff of the NNPC and its subsidiaries is critical to the ongoing transformation efforts being made by the Federal Government in the oil and gas sector.
According to him, the objective is not only to prevent staff from being harmed or taking ill during work but also an essential factor to a sustainable business.
He stated this while delivering his key note address at the Health, Safety and Environment, HSE, week in Benin City.
Baru, who was represented by the Managing Director of NPDC, Engr. Yusuf Matashi, said business sustainability in the oil sector required “processes in which we manage our financial, social and environmental risks, obligations and opportunities to meet the needs of the present without compromising the needs of the future generation.”
