One person is dead following a crash on Deerfoot Tr. near Stoney Tr. on Wednesday night.

Police say a 44-year-old woman died in hospital after a collision between her vehicle and a semi-truck around 9:45 p.m.

The woman was driving northbound on Deerfoot Trail when the vehicle lost control and was T-boned by the truck following behind. The truck jackknifed off to the left of the road.

The identity of the woman was not released. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

Calgary police shut down northbound Deerfoot Tr. between Stoney Tr. and Country Hills Blvd. for nearly five hours as they investigated the incident.

Police add it was one of 52 accidents on roads in and around the city last night, as ice and a small dusting of snow made conditions treacherous.
